Transitions

25 June 2012

We announce the retirement from the partnership of Senior Partner and PBR pioneer JAIME G. HOFILEÑA, effective 13 January 2012. PBR bids good-bye to Jimmy, who was a solid member of the Firm, a source of strength for the partners and an unwavering mentor to the associates.  Jimmy is about to embark on a new avenue to serve his countrymen — through the Ateneo de Manila University, where he now sits as the ADMU’s Vice-President for Social Development.

For 18 years, Jimmy was a valuable member of PBR’s Litigation Group, especially in the areas of commercial and real property litigation. He was involved with several of the Firm’s major accounts like Ayala Land, Inc., Manila Water Co., Inc., SGV & Co. and PepsiCo, Inc.  Jimmy played a key role in a number of significant cases handled by the Firm, including the Pepsi “349” cases, the Glorietta explosion and more recently, the West Tower pipeline leak. Jimmy was also an excellent intellectual property lawyer, and  helped mold what our IP Group is today.

Being an Atenean to the core, Jimmy was a man for others throughout his stay in the Firm. He was well-loved by all, from the Founding Partners all the way to the non-legal staff. From time to time, usually at our anniversary parties, we were enthralled by his musical talents and entertained by his humor.  He will be truly missed.
